Lots of things make a great comic, but I've always thought that the characters' performances are one of the most important. Good animators know it, as did/does Will Eisner, Jeff Smith, and their ilk. I really like the acting done on the page and the pauses between panels--the characters seem to really be thinking. The color is top-notch too!
