Old Illustrations, Poker Edition
Maybe five or six years ago now, I created a bunch of graphics for an online poker site...one of the many that popped up around that time, just to disappear within a matter of months. It's too bad that it didn't last, because I went to a lot of trouble to talk the client into using a classy, old-fashioned 2-D illustration style, rather than the kind of stiff, creepy 3-D mannequins that most poker sites use. They were colourful, and fun to do. I just came across them while backing up some stuff on my hard drive, and realized they'd never been added to my new site. So here they are!
There were a number of these characters, and while the client had some pretty bad ideas that he was set on (like a player who looked like Austin Powers, and one based on a real-life female poker player who he was clearly obsessed with), some of them were pretty fun, like the Mountie (the site was run offshore someplace, but the client was Canadian like myself) and turned out well. I've posted my favourites here (there was also a mad scientist, which I posted here back in 2007). Enjoy!
